2027 King Charles III 1/10oz Britannia

The smallest coin in the 2027 range and the most affordable way to own the 40th anniversary Britannia. It is a favourite for christenings, birthdays and graduations, and for adding to a gold holding a little at a time.

This year’s coin marks forty years since The Royal Mint struck the first gold Britannia in 1987. Look closely and you will find a ‘40’ privy mark set in a wave, with the number repeated in the textured background, a detail unique to 2027. The reverse shows Philip Nathan’s Britannia with trident, shield and olive branch, and the obverse the official coinage portrait of King Charles III.

Security features

• Latent image: tilt the coin and the padlock beneath Britannia changes into a trident.
• Surface animation: the background lines appear to move like waves as the light catches them. On the 2027 coin this texture also shows the number 40.
• Micro-text: the inner rim carries the Latin inscription DECUS ET TUTAMEN, meaning ‘an ornament and a safeguard’.
• Tincture lines: fine lines on Britannia’s shield pick out the colours of the Union Flag.
