2022 10oz Silver Queen's Beasts Coin – White Greyhound of Richmond
Struck by The Royal Mint in 999.9 fine silver, this 10oz coin is the tenth and final release in the hugely popular Queen's Beasts bullion series. With a face value of £10 and full UK legal tender status, it's exempt from Capital Gains Tax for UK residents — making it a favourite with both stackers and investors looking to build a tax-efficient silver holding.
The White Greyhound of Richmond
The White Greyhound was the personal badge of John of Gaunt, son of King Edward III, and later adopted as a royal emblem by both Henry IV and Henry VII. It became closely tied to the town of Richmond and to the honour of its Earls. The shield on the coin's reverse carries a double Tudor rose, symbolising the union of the rival houses of Lancaster and York.
The Queen's Beasts
The ten Queen's Beasts originated as stone statues created for Queen Elizabeth II's coronation at Westminster Abbey in 1953, each combining heraldic symbolism with mythical imagery drawn from the Queen's royal ancestry. The Royal Mint launched the bullion coin series in 2016 with the Lion of England, and the White Greyhound of Richmond closes out the collection.
Obverse: The fifth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark, surrounded by the inscription 10 POUNDS · ELIZABETH II · D·G·REG·F·D.
Reverse: A modern rendering of the White Greyhound of Richmond alongside a shield bearing the crowned Tudor rose, with the inscription WHITE GREYHOUND OF RICHMOND · 10oz · FINE SILVER · 999.9 · 2022. Designer Jody Clark's initials appear beneath the shield.
